Congratz to new computer, sry about the OS Vista
I would downgrade it to Win XP SP3. Did that with my gaming computer because only chrashes in Vista....

kicked it from my PC because many things don't worked !
don't forget to run the programms as admin ! you can change a setting that you don't have to run programms as admin because it will be done automatical but don't know the name of this in english or so ... in german it is called "Benutzerkontensteuerung". |

I have Vista on my laptop and dont want to downgrade cause all the parts and drivers in this machine are made for vista...
On my two computers I still use XP cause it runs much better, if you have the chance Fluffe use XP! But do an complete recover of your Vista System with all drivers if anything happenz on the way to get XP to work.....
The account control...
Normaly you have to enter username and pw at the start...
If you dont need several user accounts you can go to the "account control" system settings and delete all of the existing accounts, or turn off... so you dont have to log in every time And you dont need to run anything as an admin cause only one account means you are allowed to do anything.
Another reason to downgrade is that Vista will "eat" much of your system resources.
But you have an DX10 ready graphic card, this will only work with Vista, in XP you have DX 9.Xc I think.
My laptop runs great with Vista, but there are two things that dont work, with an better firewall I cant play nothing online... even if I shut down before starting game, I have to uninstall.
And my mousesettings are reseted by every restart of Windows Vista... anyone solved this problem or have the same?

I use Vista from the beginning and no crashes neither problems.
If u have olds games u can right click on the desktop icon and use W98 (and so on) compatibility.
JO works fine even with a 16/9 screen (wild screen option in menu).
Its the more stable WDS i ever had.
But i don't know about hosting and servers, cos i don't do that 
--> Deathtrap : if u use an ADSL connection u don't need a firewall cos ur router (or box) have 1 and it's correct.
Don't use an antivirus neither, many problems comes with them and they don't do nothing and take many ressources memory on ur system. |

@Callum, Router has an Firewall but no antivirus programm? It also checks the eMails... and downloaded files before opening so it does much for the security of your system.
My DSL connection is shit
